On my way to swim the Channel
In 2020, I began sea swimming as a way to navigate through the depths of grief following my mother's sudden passing. Revisiting swimming lessons with Seabirds was a pivotal decision to refine my technique, reigniting a passion that resurfaced from my childhood. I think i was 10 the last time I had a swimming lesson.
Swimming has since evolved from a comforting pastime to an essential part of my routine—I cherish the solitude it offers, devoid of distractions and obligations.
The prospect of swimming the Channel emerged as a seemingly far-fetched ambition, shrouded in humor when shared with my late friend Poppy. She asked me if I even knew how many miles were from Dover to Calais and I had no idea.
Despite the initial jest, I've committed three years to consistent training, progressively enhancing my skills. James Clear's insights on habit-building resonated deeply, motivating me to strive for incremental improvement each day. It’s all in the head. For any fitness or business goal, you need the will to do it and a plan, right?
The upcoming challenge of a Channel relay in 2025 beckons—a blend of apprehension and exhilaration fuels my determination. Can I do it?
Reflecting on this journey, I wonder: what audaciously ambitious goal have you embarked on in your own life?
